Matson Terminals, Inc.

Matson Terminals, Inc.’s Honolulu terminal at Sand Island is the hub of Matson’s operations between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland. All long-haul vessels that serve in Matson’s Hawaii, Guam and China services make calls at the facility, as well as the company’s Neighbor Island barges. Matson Terminals also offers stevedoring and marine terminal services for customer vessels. Matson Terminals’ 108-acre terminal facility includes a container yard, cargo handling area and berth facilities. The operation is highly automated, due largely to the utilization of DGPS technology to access information about the location and movement of equipment in the yard. In conjunction with the company’s automatic equipment identification (AEI) gate processing system, which was installed in 1991, Matson Terminals’ network of information technology delivers the most accurate information about the terminal’s activity as efficiently as possible. The terminal also provides a full service Facilities and Maintenance Complex (F&M) for repair of containers and container handling equipment and has the capabilities to offer customers bulk freight services.

Matson Terminals also operates terminal operations on the Neighbor Islands in the ports of Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai; and Hilo and Kawaihae, the Big Island of Hawaii.
