South Pacific Service

In January 2013, Matson expanded its presence in the Pacific with a new South Pacific service. Matson’s service offerings include the core trade lanes from Auckland, New Zealand and Fiji to the island nations of Nauru, the Solomon Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, Tonga, Wallis and Futuna, Vanuatu, Tarawa, Tuvalu and Majuro. In addition, Matson is introducing a new service from Australia to the Solomon Islands and Nauru.

Historically, Matson vessels, including both freighters and luxury passenger ships, served the South Pacific for five decades, beginning in the 1920s.  The company is proud to return to the South Pacific and provide the same level of superior customer service and on-time delivery that has distinguished Matson as a leading carrier in the Pacific serving island economies for over 130 years.

While long term Matson plans to expand its South Pacific service in a way that will effectively link the region with Asia, Guam and the U.S., our service today is focused on providing reliable, on time arrivals for these island nations that rely on ocean transportation services to support their economies. We are committed to delivering the high level service that is synonymous with Matson in the Pacific.
