Oakland Coastal Cleanup 2023 is in the books!

On Saturday, September 23, Matson family and friends turned out at the Oakland Estuary for our annual Coastal Cleanup event.

“It was a great day for a Coastal cleanup,” said Daisy Ruvalcaba, manager, ISO & Terminal Compliance, SQES. “We had 110 volunteers, employees, and family, come out to support our event and give a little bit back to Mother Earth. Between our group at the estuary and another team cleaning the MLK Jr. shoreline, there were nearly 450 volunteers.”

Other groups included participants from Save the Bay, Port of Oakland, East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), and the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD).

“With everyone’s help, we collected nearly 2,700 lbs. of trash, enough to fill a 20-yard dumpster! The SQES Team is very grateful for everyone’s participation and helping to clean our shorelines. Being a leader in environmental stewardship is part of the spirit of our Matson Ohana!”
