Matson Crews Honored for Safety

2022 Q3

Eight Matson ships and one MARAD vessel operated by Matson were recently honored with the Jones F. Devlin Safety Award, which recognizes the skill and dedication of the crews who are responsible for safe vessel operations. The award is presented by the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) at the Annual Safety Awards Luncheon held in June each year.

Devlin Award Certificates are awarded to merchant vessels that have operated for two full years or more without a crew member losing a full turn at watch because of an occupational injury.

“As Matson’s representative to the board of the Chamber of Shipping of America, it was an honor to accept the Devlin Award on behalf of the masters and crews of these vessels. ‘Bravo zulu’ on a job well and safely done,” said Kevin Krick, senior director, SQES.
