THE TOUR
Q: Do I really need to be able to go up and down 15 flights of stairs plus the gangway?
A: Yes. Tour participants should have the physical capability to ascend and descend 15 flights plus the gangway and more. The tour will have participants climbing multiple stair towers, walking up garage ramps, and traversing the ship yard. If you are uncomfortable with heights or closed spaces, please consider that some stairways are external and some passages may be tight.

Q: What will we see on the tour?
A: The tour will start aft and pass through garage deck #2, the upper engine room, garage deck #3, the top of the garage, the bridge, and the pilot’s stateroom. From the stateroom, the tour will take the same path back to the start.

Q: What do I wear for a tour?
A: Pants and weather appropriate clothes are recommended. Flat, closed-toe shoes are required for safety reasons.

Q: Do I really need to bring a government ID?
A: All participants must bring a current government issued photo ID (driver license/ID, passport, military ID) to participate.

Q: How long are the tours?
A: 30 minutes

Q: Can I take pictures with my phone or camera inside NASSCO or on the tour?
A: No. NASSCO’s security policy prohibits any picture taking while inside its facility or on the tour.

Q: Can I post to social media while at NASSCO or on the tour?
A: No. NASSCO’s security policy prohibits posting to social media while inside its facility or on the tour.

REGISTRATION
Q: Why do I need to provide detailed personal information?
A: NASSCO’s security protocol requires all participants provide detailed personal information.

Q: Can I show up without registering?
A: No. NASSCO’s security procedures require that all participants provide personal information prior to the tour.

Q: How many slots are there for each tour?
A: Each tour’s capacity is limited to 15 participants and registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

Q: I registered for a tour and can’t go now. How do I cancel?
A: Thank you for being courteous! Send an email to ksimi@matson.com so we can open the space for another participant.

Q: I registered for a tour and need to change my timeslot. How do I do that?

Q: What’s the registration deadline?
A: Please register by Thursday, May 30.

WHEN
Q: What day are the tours?
A: Friday, June 14.

Q: What time are the tours being offered?
A: Two tours are being offered at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on a first come, first serve registration basis.

GETTING THERE
Q: Can I drive my car to the port?
A: No, private ground transportation will be provided from Marriott Marquis San Diego, 333 W. Harbor Drive, as there is limited guest parking at NASSCO.

Q: What’s the ground transportation schedule?
A: The shuttle will depart the Marriott Marquis 15 minutes prior to tour start time.  The tours and shuttle are on a fixed schedule, so please be prompt for the shuttle.  See scheduled shuttle departure and arrival times below.

Q: Where do I meet the shuttle at the Marriott Marquis?
A: Please meet the shuttle on the Pacific Drive side of Marriott Marquis (Pacific Ballroom curb).

WHO
Q: Can I bring a guest on the tour?
A: No. Due to limited capacity we are unable to accommodate additional guests.

Q: Can a colleague go in my place?
A: We regret that tour invitations are non-transferable.
