In The Community

Supporting the communities in which we do business is a strong part of Matson’s corporate culture. Matson employees throughout the organization take pride in participating in activities and events that help benefit their respective communities. The company’s community relations footprint extends to every Matson location, including Hawaii, Guam, California, Arizona, Washington, Illinois and Georgia.

In Hawaii, Matson employees have volunteered their time every year for the Special Olympics Hawaii Summer Games since 1988. And the company’s support for the Sultan Easter Seals annual Christmas Party dates back to 1962. In addition the annual holiday festivities, which Matson now supports on the Neighbor Islands as well as Oahu, Matson employees have supported and participated in Easter Seals fundraisers, such as Taste of Honolulu, Nissan Golf Tournament and the Gingerbread Festival. Matson has also had leadership roles in drives for the American Red Cross and Hawaii Foodbank.

Matson employees regularly participate in special walks and events designed to benefit a number of charitable causes, ranging from food banks to the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Beyond these efforts, our employees spend “days in the community” helping organizations repair homes, send out medical supplies and feed the homeless.

Matson employees also donate their time to support green programs in their communities, particularly the Ocean Conservancy’s Annual International Coastal Cleanup Day. Every year, large groups of employees and their families come out on a weekend to participate in clean up efforts in their communities.

Taking an active role in supporting our communities continues to be a fundamental value of all of us at Matson.
